About Angeleigh
Angeleigh is an author, science educator, and performer with a flair for the theatrical; a background that breathes life into the vivid, descriptive prose of The Curse of the Crimson Crowns.
Angeleigh has always enjoyed writing, creating stories for her grandmother Valerie to read every chance she had. During the summers she would perform living-room variety shows for her family, going so far as to create “playbills” and “tickets” for each member. But what truly drives Angeleigh is her passion for the ocean and being able to teach others through Edutainment; a style of teaching that combines entertainment elements like music, skits, or dance with education.
Angeleigh’s journey into novelist territory began unexpectedly in Orlando, in her home state of Florida.
A simple chat-board post for a dice-based storytelling game group placed her in the narrator’s throne for the first time with no experience, but a story that needed to be told.
Guided by a natural instinct for fantasy world-building, and the hope to create a truly immersive and magical story, Angeleigh crafted the intricate realm of Libro Distoria. Taking inspiration from the beauty of one of the most magical places on Earth, and interlacing them with her own imagination, what started as a tabletop adventure evolved into a sweeping tale of love, redemption, and adventure.
There are many more stories that are swimming around in Angeleigh’s imagination, and she plans on writing at least some of them down. She strives to be her reader’s next favorite author.
The Story
Debut Novel: The Curse of the Crimson Crowns
IN A KINGDOM WHERE MAGIC RUNS FREE AND STORIES ARE POWER, BELIEVING IN WHAT YOU IMAGINE MIGHT BE THE ONLY WAY TO SURVIVE THE TRUTH.
Driven by a growling stomach and a need for answers. A young girl with no memory of who or where she is finds herself at the Dragon's Pimple Tavern. Where she 'borrows' the name Theo, and an invitation to the Queens's exclusive Cloak and Dagger Ball. While there, she meets some intriguing new friends; Akeema, a solider branded a coward after the great war, and Phoenix, a beautiful sharp-tongued, shape-shifting bartender.
The invitation to the capital was a courtesy but the festivities leave guests reeling. A prophecy to find the "Lost Heir", the beguiling 'Crimson Twins', a visit from the darkest magic imaginable, are all just part of the fun. Yet, even as love blooms in the quiet moments between provinces, the relentless shadow stalks our adventurers' every step, waiting for the ticking clock of a bargained prophecy to strike its final hour.
The Pixie Dust Campaign
When I first moved to Orlando, I wanted a way to meet new people and make more friends. I enjoyed playing DnD, but never truly grasped the rules, regulations, and mechanics, but wanted to try 'DMing' - being a 'Dungeon Master'. So, I posted on a Facebook® group board, “player in need of new campaign. Willing to DM if necessary.” I received four genuinely interested responses, but all of them said they had absolutely no desire to DM for varying reasons. With the opportunity presented, I 'home-brewed' my own rules, landscapes and storylines for my players to jump into. And so it began. Four Walt Disney World® College Program® participants, with the shared love of the detailed settings, characters, costume changes and story immersion, engaged in an original TT-RPG campaign and became friends. The story evolved from the whimsical, creative, hilarious, chaotic individual personalities that are my players. I hope readers enjoy this wonderfully weird world just as much as we enjoyed 'rolling' for it.
